Coffee Table - Sewing Stand with Curly Tiger Maple wood slab top - Upcycled - Cocktail Table 1071
Up-cycled coffee table from an antique treadle sewing machine base--which works! You push the treadle and it turns the wheel--blending a unique piece of history with a functional piece of furniture art.
The top is an AMAZING slab of maple...with ambrosia detailing (the dark brown swooshes), burl details scattered along both faces of the board, and a live edge with some knot details. Matching Maple support members elevate the top over the treadle wheel.
The coloring on the top is simply awesome...one of the most amazing boards we have ever worked with!! It has this awesome natural curve at one end of the board---with some of the most incredible curl & quilting details that make this area look almost holographic.
Finish
The maple slab has been sealed with our own blend of a Carnauba wax + Beeswax wax & sweet orange oil finishing paste…creating slightly glossy finish that is buttery smooth to the touch and water resistant. The wax finish results in a gorgeous, rich luster, and with the proper care this table can continue to maintain its natural beauty for many years. It is important to note that this finish is less resistant to staining (water rings) than polyurethane based finishes and requires that you re-apply a beeswax blend wax (or other natural wood conditioning paste) periodically to maintain the natural, moisture resistant, soft slightly glossy/matte finish of the wood. We recommend you protect the wood surface from standing water i.e.) vigilant use of coasters.

The maple slab top is: ~~50" long ~~~~19" at the widest point and 15" wide at the end with the arc ~~~~~~~1.7" thick
The overall table is approx.: 22" high

The unique "STANDARD" cast iron base has been painstakingly cleaned and the original finish has been preserved with a linseed oil varnish --retaining the natural color and character of the antique cast iron base---you can see where this machine has been used, with the treadle being a bit more worn than the surrounding metal--it has not been refinished to be like brand new- we desired to retain its antique character and history.
